Deadline Proposal.
This will be driven by the players. Once a predetermined number of battles have been completed (three quarters), the outstanding battles will have 10 days to complete. Any incomplete battles at the end of the 10 days will be ceasefired.
Exceptions will be made when RL pokes its nose in.

This is a new rule, so if anyone is unhappy about it let me know

GG Underfire, I win after a really tough fight, your defence was so strong.
Anyway can I claim this victory on the ladder?

Just came in to say "#$#@ that effin" river! And thank God for that friggin" river. :)

is round one finished ?

I hope not as my 2 games are still underway...

Bidermann Facman

Not yet. As you can see from the list above only a handful have completed.

I am planning on giving everyone a friendly prod on Monday that I'll be calling for a ceasefire for those not finished by the end of July.

From Round Two I will be implementing the Deadline rule (see above). This will include an extra clause that there will be a maximum amount of time (8 weeks) for each Round - longer if people don't think this will be achievable.

I've already randomised the player list order for Round Two. So once all the results are in it should be only a few days before Round Two starts.

Gunner vs ioannis3 has 16 minutes left
Gunner vs Strachwitz has 14 minutes left.
Playing a turn a day.
It's hard to do more what with our locations so far apart.

Here's an oddity, I just finished the Axis turn 15, pressed Go and the game wants to save the file as "LKOULU 002" instead of "ZWR1 ioannis3 ZA 036".
I went to the Dropbox and I renamed it "ZWR1 ioannis3 ZA 036".
I hope this isn't a problem.

I think a turn a day is a very good rate. I realise the 'Deadline' rule is new, so if anyone objects I will drop it.

My vision for this tournament format is a rolling battle, hence the single battlefield, with a sort of 'Fast and Furious' feel to it - no I am not keen on those movies! So I am keen on a steady turnover of rounds with a specific timeframe.

Eight weeks strikes me, and hopefully everyone else, as a reasonable period to complete a thirty turn game. The 'three-quarters' rule will probably never be invoked, but it was my initial Deadline rule idea before deciding on eight weeks, so I'd like to keep it for sentimental reasons.

That sounds very odd! Let's hope it's not some obscure bug rearing its head.

From what I have seen, CM stores the filename within the save file and pops that into the save box regardless of what it is physically called. In this case the only effect will be when the save box pops up at the end of the turn it will show "LKOULU" again. To change the name back - if you want - it needs to be done when the save file is created within the game.

It is my mistake, i was in the middle of my turn i had to go and i made a temporary save(because i didnt want to do it all over again)called "LKOULU".
After a while i opened this save to continuing my plot. When i finished and hit the save button accidentally i hit Ok in the LKOULU 002 save before i renamed it.
Then before i opened the h2h i opened my outgoing saves an renamed it correctly. After that i opened h2h and it shows to me that the file ZWR1 ioannis3 ZA 036 was send,so i thought everything was fixed.Strange that Gunner received the file as LKOULU 002.Anyway it is not a bug,its more how the save files in this game works.
Sorry for the trouble.

I don't think anyone objects to it.
You would have heard mumblings and grumblings by now. ;)

From my point of view eight weeks should be more than enough time to finish. At 5 emails a week, which I believe is a popular tournament speed, that should add up to about 6 weeks to finish with a little padding for Holidays, no? Not unreasonable at all.
And I dig the 3/4 rule. That's a great idea. I say stick with it and see how it turns out.

Sometimes with me a turn a day is impossible due to work commitments. I'm back to driving trucks interstate and can be away for 2 nights at a time. I do try to get my turns out as quickly as possible but if this deadline isn't flexible and the 3/4 rule enforced I might never finish a battle in this tourney.

I'd like to be flexibly inflexible :) . Certainly for this tourney I will be flexibly flexible as this 'Deadline' rule was not on the table when people signed up.

If you're pumping out turns on a regular basis and come the deadline you're in arms length of the end, I don't think it would be a problem. It's more to get people to have an end date to aim for and to jolly up opponents. If the turn/round grinds to a frustrating halt I can invoke a rule that everyone is aware of.

From what you say, worst case scenario, 1 turn every 3 days you'd hit the 8 week deadline having completed 18ish turns - I really don't think the three-quarter rule would ever be used. If you warned me that because of RL you can't hit that date but know you want and/or are trying to I'd extend the date.

I don't want this to be a chore. As I said previously, the Deadline is more to get people to have an end date to focus on lest my wrath be unleashed ;) .

I think enthusiastic/dedicated players are important and will try to accomodate them.

So don't worry about it, as long as the battle is motoring along - no pun intended - and you let me know it's status (turn and finish estimate).

Ok thanks mate.

Hello Everyone,

Just asking where you all are with your battles.

Please let me know

a/ Current turn
b/ Estimated finish date

My post at the top of this page shows the results known so far.

I would like to move towards an eight week turnaround for rounds. I know this wasn't part of the rules when you signed up so feel free to say no.

This won't be a hard and fast rule as consideration will be taken for RL and its fickle ways. It's to give everyone an end of round goal, but extra time can be added as the situation dictates.

Certainly we are hitting the holiday season so flexibility goes without saying.

Once Round One is finished it should only take me a few days to get Round Two up and running. I have already randomised the player order list, and the weather conditions.
