Noob H2H player with all BN releases. I'll probably bend to temptation and grab FI soon too.

I tend to prefer ironman games on the larger and longer side. I would probably like to stick to attacking until I get used to H2H play. I have no nationality preference. Opponent can pick game options and map.

Out of curiosity, why do you prefer the iron mode?

I guess it comes from all my years playing solo and just trying to add some role-playing spice. I also tend to use historical tactical doctrines when I can. What is the normal mode for H2H around here?

But there's no extra realism in iron mode. It's just that you have to click one extra time to deselect the current unit before you can again see all your units. That's why I'm genuinely curious about why some players prefer this mode.

What is the normal mode for H2H around here?

I play nearly all my games on Elite, and I rarely play anyone who ask for another realism level. So I guess that's the generally agreed setting.

Yes, "Elite" seems the default level for FGM H2H. Players specifically ask prior agreement from opponents if they wish to play "Warrior" or "Iron".

Thanks for the info. Is there a list of default game/pre-game expectations somewhere? I seem to recall something about not bombarding setup locations...but I would never do that anyway.

The one unanimous rule is, no pre-planned or plotted artillery on your opponent's mag edge setup & reinforcement zones. Other discussions include,

But the best rule of all is, "Contact your opponent to fully discuss and agree about such matters before your match begins"!
