Battle for Rikonovo: RULES

Here is the basic rule set for the RIKONOVO campaign.

A lot of it is very similar to the previous HERAKLION campaign, but with much greater flexibility for the German commanders as to unit make up and composition.

Also, please remember that this will be a heavily narrative campaign ... counting hexes will not necessarily be the end all here when planning movements etc ... I will be chucking in many variables and making up much of this as we go along and the Fog of War will be dense... very dense. :)

@Rico, my figure has been wounded in turn #018 plus radio operator. I couldn't find anything about this case in the rulebook.

I've sent a unit (MG team) to the house where the wounded commander is laying - when they have given him medical treatment and then make it
over the hill into the withdrawal zone - am I saved then?

I feel that I'm not heavily injured - it's only a "little scratch" ;) - but the PC programme doesn't know. ;)

Well, when I wrote "it's only a little scratch" it was meant as a joke like in the way of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" the "Bridge" scene.
I guess I was misunderstood (or expressed myself wrong).

Of course if you as the gaming master say that I'm out, then I'm out - would never doubt or criticise your decision (and it's only a game).

There are four conditions for a soldier, indicated be different circles when clicking on him:

green = OK
yellow/orange = slightly wounded
red circle with red cross = injured (heavily wounded?)
red circle with skull and bones = dead

My figure has a red circle with a red cross and receives first aid - so the figure will vanish from the battlefield and can not be seen any longer after the battle.

It could be imagined that the injured commander is carried by the MG team that provided first aid - and if the MG team
could make it to the escaping zone (exit zone) or survives until the end of the battle, Leutnant Shorker would be save.

Or is a heavily injured player automatically out of the campaign?

That's why I was asking - as I couldn't find anything regarding this in the rulebook.

If I'm out then I'm out and that's the way it is - no problem. ;)

(Will defend my position as good as possible anyway).

Unfortunately, it looks like a "Heimatschuss" for Major Shorker... if his grenadiers can evacuate him off the battlefield to a wounded transport back to Rikonovo.

That would mean the first German commander to be lost from the Rikonovo campaign.

Roger - thx for the info. :) Should have been hiding one minute longer with my HQ team... ;) Maybe next time though. :cool:

Even if it is hard to lose such a capable commander as Hauptmann Shorker we have to progress. C'est la guerre!

@Shorker : Get well soon! I hope we will have you with us again during the next campaign in the East...

LOL! Thx a lot! ;)

How about wounded players missing a few turns rather than been eliminated ?

Thx, Nat - but we must also keep in mind that this here is a 72 hours campaign. I was hit by a tank grenade (self propelled gun)... so my wounds will take longer to heal. ;)

Although hard for Hauptmann Shorker the element of getting wounded really adds lots of immersion to the campaign! Great!

Get well soon, Herr Shorker. I myself was lightly wounded at Zaprud'ye, and no doubt will need (a shorter) convalescence too.

@Shorker
Hope to see as a returning wounded Hero in the next campaign. ;)
Thank you, Nat - let's pray that Rico has enough fun with it and and that there will be another campaign sometime. ;)
I really hope so. But now you all must concentrate and enjoy this very good Rikonovo campaign first. :cool:

@ Rico : One question regarding the rules:
Will you track the amount of "work" that each unit has to deliever (battles, marches) within the timeline? Will there be an exhausting effect for the whole unit resulting in a de/increasing fitness level?
If an unit doesnt rest at all, will it break?
