Morning all,

A few months ago we asked you all (and for any new members) to fill out some details regarding what Combat Mission games they own and play. This would help us make sure there aren't too many events in any one game and to help make sure that any proposals that come in will actually have a chance at having enough of a player base to be viable.

Well here is what everyone owns. Colours break up into separate CM game families. Modern era games to the right.

- CMBN is obviously a clear winner but surprisingly not by a lot. The other WW2 games are right behind the CMBN juggernaut.
- Pretty much everyone here ends up buying the expansions / packs without fail. It's pretty safe to set up events requiring members to have all modules with this FGM group.
- Modern era there is a noticeable step down in terms of ownership.
- Unreleased products like CMSF2 and Rome to Victory are present in the form so if you are planning to be a day 1 purchaser but have already filled out your form, please let me know with a reply below.

Do we buy the engine upgrades?
Despite the public criticism BF gets on it's own forums the answer is largely a yes, and pretty quickly to.

Finally for now. How many games and turns do FGM members generally play each week?

- Most of us have 2 - 4 games going at any one time and will commit to around 3 - 5 turns per week. This is followed by those who put in the extra miles to go 6+ turns per week.
- There is a sizeable group that plays 5 - 8 games at any given time.
- Not shown here but there isn't a lot of variance between the different games that players own. ie. CMFB owners don't tend to play more than CMBN owners etc. The only noticeable increase (and not by a lot) is with CMRT players. I guess Ost front fans are a little more zealous. :)

Planning an event/tournament? Contact @Badger73 in the first instance.

If you haven't submitted your Census form as of yet, you can find it here: http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/thefgmforum/form/

Cheers

Very nice work, @Ithikial! Thank you very, very much.
I intend to purchase "Rome to Victory" upon release. The form only asked whether I own it. I answered that I do not. I plead guilty to the crime of Speaking Literally . . . . :shocknaz:

Yeah just me planning ahead so I don't have to and keep changing a form on the back end with every release. :p

2-4 games.
Nice charts. I was pleasantly surprised that so many BN-players have the Vehicle Pack (as I tend to design scenarios for it). I thought it was more of a dud in CM-terms.

I'd take that with a grain of salt. Membership at the clubs would likely pick up more of the longer term ongoing playing group who are more than likely going to buy everything, rather than the short term 'dabblers' who are just playing CM for 6 months and then moving on when the new shiney game is released. The strong relationship between module ownership to base games sort of reinforces that fact.

For sure. Having said that it is good for designers to know that the community which is most likely to play and give feedback to new scenarios has good adoption of modules and packs. Even if the packs are not in wide spread use of the entire community if it does have good penetration in the community that designers are targeting then they can feel free to use them.

I'm more of a stuff it, just go with it with your scenario ideas and not worry about module/pack ownership. :p

I think the initial criticsm of the Vehicle Pack stemmed from there being no scenarios being included so players couldn't just jump in and use the new toys straight away. (QB/H2H doesn't :p ) Community scenario designers plugged the void which I'd guess is why it did sell to community... the day time Economist (data nerd) side of me would love to analyse the sales data against the release dates of these community scenarios. :p

When I designed Carpiquet it became very hard to do 'historically' without the Vehicle Pack. Once the contents of the pack were known it spurred me back into it - 79th Armoured involvement and the 'bigger' bunkers. It's was never going to be perfect without a more detailed set of fortification options for designers to play with but it was enough. (IMO). I did get asked a number of times if there was going to be a non-vehicle pack option and the answer was always "no." There's not a lot of love given to scenario designers vs the amount of time and effort they need to put in, the very least is they should be able to build the scenario they want.
