The 1st FGM Duplicate CMBN Tournament

I would remind everyone that you are only in competition with the guys playing the same side as you. This alleviates all scenario imbalance issues from affecting your score in the tourney. The fact that there were 3 Allied victories indicates that it wasn't an impossible scenario to win. All who played the scenario, played under the same exact conditions. So regardless of it being a sucky scenario (which it was), your competition had no advantages.

Facman, you are right about competing with one side only. We were just discussing problems with previous scenario which, although possible to win, required a specific "solution" to win and also relied very heavily on luck. As someone mentioned, one deflected shot meant the end for him. One bad "spotting roll" by the game engine and your tank burned.
Most problems were related to the size of the scenario, with very small forces (loss of every soldier or vehicles could mean instant defeat in certain situations, see M4 loss in round one for example) and map size (no room to maneuver or option to be really creative with the attack).

Anyway, none of this will probably be a problem in next scenarios if they're bigger than tiny, and the current scenario is a good indication of that having bigger forces and more options :)

I understand the problem with luck playing too large a factor in games, and have learned that tiny scenarios don't make for good testing grounds as to ones actual skill level, so you won't see any more of them in this tourney.

This is my first go at this type of tourney, and as with any new endeavor there will be little glitches in the beginning. I thank you all for participating and apologize profusely for that 1st scenario. If there is a consensus, I would be willing to consider the first scenario a 'dry run' of the tourney style and not count it in the overall scores.

I did like the scenario in general, but I would support the idea of dropping that first round from the tournament scoring.

Well, the current situation is 3 allied players are at exactly 500 points with the rest at 0 points, with the exact opposite situation among Axis players. I'd vote to remove the previous scenario from scoring due to its overall issues and also issues with its scoring system (500 or nothing).

I have won with allies (vs Bootie )
As I always do, I played the scenario without knowing anything in addition to the briefing.
I immediately moved my tank back into a "hull down position", facing to my left. I also, did not expect the danger from across the river immediately.
I dried the tank on my left and I was lucky with the tank across the river (his shots did not damage).
I was lucky? Of course, but a little or more luck is always useful. I do however: "I have devised a good plan"
Let's put it to a vote!
500 points are too many? ok we put a coefficient to reduce the impact ;)

IMO Game Master decides about scenario and so on.
Now it's just the first round so everybody will have plenty of time to make it even for a not so good start in the scoreboard.
I had also administrated tourneys in the past and i know that is a time consuming process so lets respect GM's choice and encourage him for the rest of the tourney.

Two minds about this. On the one hand it was a very hard scenario for the Allies with little leeway for scoring performance points. On the other hand, it is very impressive that some Allies managed to win!

I'm going to abstain.

I have won with Ligthhorse and I agree with Underfire about that the scenario is difficult for the Allies. But I think that only GM must decide.

Some points should have been awarded for kills and maybe more so on the Allied side for armor and HQ kills.

Nelson1812 sent me an amended version of the scenario. In it he awarded points for casualties, and it appears to have been 'right on' as to make it a more competitive scenario. It still required one to utilize the available cover and situational awareness to win, which I did as the Allies.

First: I'll go with whatever the GM decides and no hard feelings either way.

I haven't checked how many points the current scenario yields. If the 500 points relate to the size of the current scenario (like 1:5) then I'm ok with it. But if it would account for a significant number of points then IMHO it should be reconsidered.

Still waiting first contact with MGMG... I used inbox but still not reply for now.
