The 1st FGM Duplicate CMBN Tournament

After a short false start our game is underway. This looks like a fun one!

My opinion about the previous scenario is just that and nothing more. Any decision made by the GM will be fully supported either way. Thanks for putting this on!

I've made my decision regarding the first 'Lame' scenario. We will discard the game in it's entirety. It will be considered a false start and we will begin anew with the current scenario being the first. If you have any questions, let me know. And thanks for all your support, it's times like this, when your mates come through to help you along, that the strength of our club really shows.

FM,
I commend you for even putting something together. I wish I had the time and know how to do one. Every tournies and such have their bitching or questionable points. Impossible to make one perfect or to suit every single player. You stepped up and said "Ah shit! Maybe that scenario was a bad choice so let me go ahead and scratch it" That takes a stand-up member to do that. Kudos to you and thanks for putting this together to keep the fun rolling.

Thank you Facman, for the effort of organizing the whole thing anf this decision.

I posted a message eariler but decided to remove it before making sure. Are we allowed to talk about the scenario in progress if we try not to spoil too much? Or is it best left for after everybody's finished?

It's just that I have a question to allied players that's like a bad itch and would love to ask it but on the other hand I'm afraid to spoil it for people who have not started yet, if there are any still that is.

I saw your earlier post, and can't answer your question as I have not played the scenario. While there may be a problem with the briefing, all your competitors are working from the same sheet of music, so there is no advantage in the scenario that relates to your competition score.

I saw the post and are far ahead so I know what you mean.
However, the war is not algebra. The briefing is well done and in general is not what happens on the battlefield, but the information that you have at the beginning exact or not exact.
This is precisely the reason why I like to play tournaments or scenarios without ever having tried the scenario or not mirror.
From what I have seen and are near the end, this is a great scenario, balanced or not we will see the results.

Yeah, I don't mean balance etc, I know we are all in the same situation, that's not a problem, the scenario is quite interesting. I was just wondering if it was only me misreading the briefing compared to what was happening or not, because I was totally surprised and had to adjust in panic :)

You have just read my last line. But it was not my cosider, it was just an appendix.
My thought is: "However, the war is not algebra. The briefing is well done and in general is not what happens on the battlefield, but the information that you have at the beginning exact or not exact."

No, I read your whole post. But started replying to the last part of it first as it was also Facman's point. My whole point has little to do with the tournament itself really, more with the scenario considered autonomically. Can't really agree with you on the briefing playing the player being good though.

Anyway, I just wondered about it and consider it the scenario maker's mistake, which can of course be corrected in future versions of this scenario. And again, it's not a big thing really, just a minor issue I noticed and wondered if any other people fell for the same trap :)

I like to view the briefing as known intelligence etc. So, hopefully it's accurate but you never can be 100% sure. So if the designer wants to sneak a spanner into the works that's fine with me - as long as I don't end up facing 20 Panthers with a rifle platoon and mortar team.

First results in for re-start of tourney, congrats to Jackal263 & MGMG for completing first report. Remember to send to my e-mail, a screen cap of the final scores, don't post them here. Standings can be found at the other thread for the tourney.

The second team to report are Underfire & Das Tiger. I'm happy to report that the point spread is working as planned. Yay!
