Welcome to The Few Good Men

Thanks for visiting our club and having a look around, there is a lot to see. Why not consider becoming a member?

Post Scriptum

I was hoping for this kind of level of simulation:

Will stick to WarThunder and hope for some infantry gameplay someday.

I played WWII ONLINE Battleground Europe about ten years ago, fun game once your in a clan/squad.
The battle map is a scaled version of northern France in the east, going through to Belgium, Luxembourg, Holland to north east Germany with southern England on the northern edge of the map.

Battles would last for 50-70 days (real time). I remember once we were defending Antwerp one evening all the buildings were intact and the streets nice and clean. The next evening I logged in and sections of the city were reduced to rubble and the allied force were defending the harbor area. I shooting my lee enfield out a window at some Germans. Suddenly there was an explosion and I was flug across the room and the wall and window were blown away.
With the monthly subscription, it's not worth it, that is if your gonna be playing it everyday then it is, who'd have the time?

The average large town you'll be fighting.

@mcmortison here's a snapshot of the of the level of simulation you were referring to.

@Nathangun played from 2004 till 2008 and tryed it a few month ago again (ist on Steam now too). Was playing in a Canadian Clan/Unit (our leader was Nev Young).

Fun times. For me it was one of the most fun and stressfull games I ever played.

I loved hunting MSP's and light tanks with my trusty ATR :)

The game has potential but the fps is something that doesn't make me enjoy it, anybody has the same problem? I don't have a high end pc now, but it still run Arma 3 great graphics at good fps, but this one is painful to play with its glitches from fps and lag.

One thing that would make games like Post Scriptum better IMHO would be greater restrictions on the amount of info an individual player has access to.

The main reason that people can run off and do what they want is because they have all the info they need to be a one man army thereby negating the requirements for a chain of command and unit cohesion.

Another brief AAR.

Was a brit tank commander, and learned that when you pop open the hatch, you have a much better view (of course!).
In addition, I learned that by pressing the Q button, the tank commander can use binoculars when he is crew exposed.

I told my crew to halt at a hull down position on a road heading into town, and used my binoculars.
I spotted an enemy AT gun way down the road in the distance, so I informed the gunner and ordered him to fire.

The first shot was a little high, and stuck the road behind them. I told him to lower his aim slightly.
Second shot was right on target. Gun destroyed.

Also tried the medic role.
My squad was moving double time to cross a patch of open terrain to a small rise which gave some cover.
Several of them were hit and went down.

I followed behind, reviving and healing as I went. I instructed each guy to crawl the rest of the distance rather than run.
I had to go prone for most of it, and while crawling along and healing, bullets were hitting the ground nearby, with little puffs of smoke and sand.
It was night time, and tracers were whizzing overhead, brightly lit against the sky. In the distance, I could see firey explosions from our artillery hitting the town center.

@Concord you describe some great gaming moments and I can see the appeal.

How does what you are doing fit into the bigger picture of the battle?

For example, when you were in the tank, were you operating as part of a tank platoon and coordinating with them as part of a combined arms attack or were you just rolling around as a single entity looking for things to shoot?

In the same respect, when you were the medic was the artillery barrage coordinated with what your infantry unit was trying to achieve?

There is an overall platoon leader for each side that communicates with the squad leaders ( 3 or 4 squads of up to 9 men, plus logistics and armoured crews).
The squad leaders can talk to each other and the platoon leader on a separate voice channel for commanders.
Squad members (including the leader) can talk to each other on their own channel.
There is also a local 'voice' channel that anyone close can hear. I've had infantry direct us to enemies using the voice channel from outside the tank.

The platoon leader gives orders to the squad leaders. He can also call in artillery and air strikes.

Then there are the logistics squads, that set up forward bases that players can spawn at after getting killed.
They can also set up mortars that can be used in addition to the platoon leader's one. They have smoke rounds too.
These forward bases can and sometimes do get over run by enemy.

The coordination is important. But it depends on the players as to how good it is.
More experienced players tend to go for leadership roles, but not always.

Well I'm having fun playing the game. Might not be for everyone though. So be it.
In truth, I often question myself about playing war games at all, regardless of 'level of realism'.
Provides some thrills, but it's mimicking brutal combat, where fathers, brothers and sons get torn apart by flying steel. Hmmm.

I think it's a great game and has a lot of potential, once it gets more content a gets more stable builds, just like squad.
But the experience changes drastically from game to game, you can have a game with great teamplay within your squad, the commander, the armored squads and have a lot of fun with an effective team and have great firefights. And the next game will have you in a squad where the leader does not have a mic, no communication between all the squad leaders and commander, tanks etc, and your team never gets past the first objective.
I think, just like squad, the people who dont teamplay will eventually disappear, creating a smaller but better community, improving the overall experience.

Got the game today as a present for myself.
Reminds me WWII Online Battleground Europe a little, I was on a German sever so I had no idea what was going on in my squad, but I got the impression that the squad was fighting as a unit, keeping together as I was the lone wolf.
I spawned at a mobile spwan point south of an object (an collection of farm houses) we had to defend.
I ran north and reached a hedgerow and waited till my stamina bar went full and ran to the next hedgerow. There I waited there making sure I wasn't exposed to much and waited like any good sniper would do (I had a Lee Enfield rifle) and got myself a kill after a few minutes.
I looked at the map and realized that the objective was lost and we were pushed back south, I was in effect behind enemy lines.
I carefully began to make my way back to my lines jumping into hedgerows at the rumbling sound of tracks coming down the road.
Making my way through a small picturesque village of red brick houses a sudden crack of a rifle betrayed the tranquility of the scenery, not knowing where the shot came from and realizing that my skill was at best a novice, I made a run for cover along side a house.
With quick glimpses of my antagonist, I lobbed grenades and shot blindly and ran again into a building and escaping out a rear door, rounding the corner and threw myself into a ditch a crawled some way off.
As I looked back from my concealed hiding spot, I spied two SS soldiers moving along the gardens of the houses, I kept still and waited till they moved off. Then suddenly the spell of the encounter was broken as the battle ended with my side losing.

Shit game, just kidding, I had fun.
