This is Prosperina Vallet (1911/1998), partisan in the autonomous partisan unit of the Vertosan valley (Valle d'Aosta). She was 12 when she started working as a cook, and widowed when her first daughter was only three months . She then remarried Rino Mion (also a partisan), and had two other children, one of whom died. This photograph (in black & white really) was taken between 2 and 6 Nov 1944 while Prosperina, with her husband and other partisans, tried to reach France. Her partisan name was "Lisetta".
