Burgers... yum.

Actually I find it quite disturbing seeing you killing all those animals, even if it's in a game. You sure you're alright...?

Lol, i spent tuesday night trying to get a Civi Talitubby to be the Leader of 50+ goats that would go from A to B!!... lol
Now i just have 50+ goats bleeting in the middle of the road ...:deadhorse:

If anything I'll remember about Afghanistan is those bleeding goat herders in all sorts of god forgiven places! lol

AARGHH!! O sweet Jesu, the British Armed Forces (BAF) addon includes the notorious Jackal, probably the worst "fighting vehicle" in the history of warfare!
The crew have no protection at all and the gunner is expected to just stand there hosing down the enemy.
That's fine in theory, but it hasn't occurred to the tea-drinking pen-pushers at the Ministry of Defence that the enemy will be shooting back!

You really are too harsh on the Jackal mate. It's a recon vehicle primarily, and in that role it excels, it's fast but has enough firepower to get it out of a tricky spot. I don't know for sure, but I don't think any one has been killed by small arms fire in a jackal, IEDs are a different matter.

Different equipment for different roles, just like in CMx1, you want SMG troops in the woods but not on the plains. True they have been deployed in a way they weren't really designed for, but that doesn't make it a bad piece of kit.

Wow... that last pic looks photo-realistic!!

You should see the ones that people have done where they've tweaked it up for screenshots. Those building textures are top notch though, in fact all the textures are

Can't wait for my new pc so i can play this

I thought the jackal was an interim answer to a request for a heavy weapons platform which could handle ieds better?

Sort of, I think.

It was the replacement for the WMIK land rover, but it was put into the recce sections before the fire support sections. Really when they are being used as heavy weapons platforms (both the MWMIK and the WMIK) it's basically just transport, speed it up to the reverse of that hill, dismount the HW and fight from there.

Yes the Brit Ministry of Defence think vehs can be made IED-proof by adding more armour. What bollox! The Taliban simply use bigger IEDs to blow them up, they could flip a main battle tank with a big enough IED.!
The way to defeat IEDs is to keep off roads as far as possible, hell Rommel was bypassing Brit minefields 70 years ago by driving ricketty old trucks through the open desert, and our offroad vehs today are much better than his. And we have transport helos too!

These 3 screenshots are from one of tonights multiplay missions with POS, Bootie and Breaklight-

Blackhawk down! I called it in to drop some paras which it did successfully, but then it got shot down

I called in this A-10 airstrike as a Drone circles overhead-

Me (foreground) and Bootie probe the ville. Breaklight was operating across town and the show ended before I could screenshot him-
The scenario was sort of fun but far too complex, I hadn't a clue what was going on.
Real life missions take hours or days of planning, but we just roared off the start line in a Humvee with zilch planning at all, in "headless chicken" mode!
I'll build some scens of my own when I'm familiar with the game and send them to people to inspect days before going to multiplay.

Here's another one we played tonight, we had to shoot holes in a Scud with our sniper rifles, then wipe out the platoon of supporting infantry. We achieved it at the 3rd attempt-

Infra-red sights view. The Scud was shot up bad but never gave us the satisfaction of blowing up

PS- we also played another game but I forgot to have FRAPS running in the background and couldn't get screenshots, duh..

I did'nt get any shots of last Saturday Nights online action.
Here instead are some pics of a Work In Progress that I'm trying to create.

After saturday, i figured we could use some small (2 to 4 players) missions for MP; And that the use of vanilla components is best. (i scrapped the medivac mod, but ppl still could'nt join.. strange :( )
One of the missions I'm working on is a two person multiplayer.

Basically comes down to one flying an apache and the other is gunner.
Task 1 is to escort a Chinook to a FOB up north and back. If you dont clear up ahead of him, theres a nasty russian.50 cal on the back of a pickup (amongst other things) that will take the chinook and 16 squaddies to an early grave.
After that, you head up towards one of the valleys to do some search and destroy.
See the screens >>

In the editor, putting in objects, units, waypoints, scripts....

.. some pics of a Work In Progress that I'm trying to create..

Yeah that's the way to do it mate, we're adult wargamers not kids, so we should adopt a professional approach and post the map and briefing DAYS before the start, so we can discuss and plan everything in detail just like a real-life military operation so that when we go to the start line we know EXACTLY what to do and won't be running round like headless chickens..:)
And lets keep our scens simple to start with, i've only had AA2 for 12 days and am still learning it like crazy and am far from fluent.
We can crank up the difficulty by creating bigger scens much later.

I think you might find this LINK intereesting POS, bit of background to Arma.

First there was Operation Flashpoint, after that came Arma. Bohemia has also developed it further and for the Military market. That product is called VBS2. Arma's big brother. ;)
