The FGM Motorcycle Thread

This is a “Must have” IMO. Sportsters are notorious for battery drain if not ridden at least once a week or so. Plus use it for winter storage. As you know Sportster batteries are a bitch to get in and out, this makes it so you can just plug it in.8B904047-E975-4677-81FC-E7809461C38D.jpegB7D19167-5699-4411-BA9F-08E8D4B3FA50.jpeg

Took the new bike for a short ride yesterday. It runs and shifts fine, with lots of torque, just like I remember my '09 sportster doing. My skills have deteriorated in the six or seven years out of the saddle. Not happy with the lines I was taking. Definitely not ready to ride The Tail of the Dragon just yet. Getting a few thousand miles under my belt should fix that.

Interesting and honest comment about your riding skills.......If I've been off the bike for a long time, when I get back on it, I always ride an easy non technical route as my first trip just to get the feel back and to tune myself back in before heading off for those more rewarding roads - I recall a chat with an off duty police rider and he told me that often in the spring, after many riders have had the bike parked up for the winter, they get into trouble the first time they get back in the saddle as they just head out for the curves at warp speed without getting themselves back in the groove properly, and this is often the older riders who still think they have the same reactions they did when they were 18, and are not as supple either.

Ride safe, and enjoy - my motto is "fast enough to enjoy the curves, slow enough to enjoy the scenery".

Gentlemen, spring is almost here. I am thankful for the mild winter which allowed me to ride almost every week but I am tired of being cold.

Just a general bitch as I wait for the burning in my fingers and thighs to go away.

Yesterday was in the forties and I had nice two hour cruise on the cruiser. Today is sunny and in the fifties, work didn't need me to come in, so it's time to take the Guzzi out for long ride.

@Buckykatt Yea, I have a similar small battery charger.

Do you have any suggestions for a handlebar mount for a phone or GPS?

Gents,

Try this...........several riders that I follow on You Tube who have ridden across continents swear by these things.

Just over two hundred miles on today's ride. I figure that should knock the salt off the bike and get her ready for summer. Warmer weather is definitely here, saw some really bad ass hardcore harley bikers out with their very intimidating half skull bandanas on. I wonder if HD pays their riders to plaster their logo all over themselves?

200 miles.........my idea of nipping out on the bike - nice one.
Mine's off the road at the moment, and I can't ride it anywhere other than to work at the moment anyway.....

Almost 5 yrs ago, coming home from work........happy times - finished work, on the bike, great weather, lovely scenery.

I had the pleasure of working a couple assignments at Harley-Davidson back in the day. They ferociously go after any commercial enterprise which infringes on the Bar-and-Shield copyright but pride themselves immensely and wholeheartedly encourage the loyalty of a consumer group who brand themselves with a host of H-D tattoo's
