Russian T-34 tanks pressed into service for the Wehrmacht, Eastern Front. The re-purposing of captured enemy equipment was fairly common practise by all sides during the Second World War.

Imagine the supreme guts, command & Leadership skills needed to do this in action!! They could be under air attack, hit & run attacks from destroyers, massive bombardment from Battleships chucking 15" shells from 4 miles outside your maximum range - general slugging match with light or heavy cruisers. In a worse case scenario this could all happen within 24 hours! not to mention the constant threat of submarine attack no matter how peaceful the surroundings or the escort.

One mistake by ANY member of the crew could lead to your defeat and the survival rates of seaman aboard sinking ships was abysmal....

I Have supreme respect for the sailors of ANY vessel operating in either world war. (No more to be said - even Zinzan sees this as too core to his values for oddball humour)
